Series of Apollo – Festivals

Festivals, days, and times sacred to Apollo

Every seventh day of the greek calendar was sacred to Apollo, actually some would say that he was born on the seventh day of the seventh month. Besides that there was some festivals:

  • Stepteria, celebrated every eight years (altought that is the only information I have)
  • Pythia, celebrated every four years (that just being the only information I have)
  • Thargelia was celebrated on the sixth and the seventh day of the month Thargelion (in the Athenian calendar), and was sacred to Artemis and Apollo, the numbers would have to do with their birthday. Artemis on the 6 and Apollo on the 7.
  • Pyanopsia, celebrated on the seventh day of the month Pyanepsion (in the Athenian calendar)
  • Delphinia, celebrated on the sixth or seventh day of the month Munychion (in the Athenian calendar)
  • Boedromia, celebrated on the seventh day of the month Boedromion (in the Athenian calendar)

A good post for knowing a bit more: Apollon Festivals

I think that is it, if you know any other just tell me. Thank you,
Andy.
